Constructed over a 100 years ago, has beautiful view of the Parvathy Tea Estate. The original design of the bungalow did not include a porch and the iron porch that one sees today. The original bungalow, probably erected on the same site in 1891, was built by A.H. Sharp, then Manager of the estate. It was a simple building “surrounded by jungle on all sides and infested by elephant and bison” and was most likely built on a stone foundation with stone pillars, a roof of shingles and walls made of wattle and daub. It would have been surrounded by an elephant trench. The present bungalow is most probably built on the very same foundation. The bungalow has 2 king bed rooms and 1 twin bed room.

The name Kanniamallay, comes from the Tamil word “Kanni”, meaning “virgin” and “malay” meaning “mountain”. It is no surprise that it was named thus, for it is very easy to imagine the pioneers opening the area being stunned with the delicate virgin forests that existed there. Coupled with the river that flows across, it must have been quite a sight! ‘Constructed in 1927, the Kanniamally Bungalow is one of the biggest bungalows and boasts of a different construction style from the other bungalows in the district. In earlier days, Kanniamallay also generated its own power through the use of Pelton Wheels. The tunnel through which the water was channelized is still visible, although the Wheels have since been demolished and are now on display at the Tea Museum. This villa comes with 2 king bed rooms and 1 twin bed room.

Built in 1916, the bungalow boasts of an expansive view of the beautiful mountains. Netti-kudi probably comes from the Tamil words, ‘NETTI’ meaning forehead and ‘KUDI’ meaning hut. This bungalow may have been built of wattle and daub with thatching. It is located on the brow or forehead of a hill with a commanding view and hence named thus. Interestingly, this is considered to be a very important Bungalow and this can be gathered from the fact that the Sergeant Instructor of the Southern Provinces Mounted Rifles arrived in 1927 and occupied this very bungalow. The bungalow comes with 3 king bed rooms.
